MT-03 Autogyro
The MT-03 Autogyro is the latest - and most exciting - addition to our fleet, bringing a whole new type of fun and affordable flying to the club.
The MT-03 is an all-new aircraft designed and developed in Germany and recently certified in the UK, exceeding the requirements of BCAR Section T, the toughest airworthiness standard in the world for sport gyroplanes (in fact, it's the first ever 2-seat gyro to have achieved this incredible standard of strength and stability).
Like all autogyros, the MT-03 is outstandingly versatile: It can land in little more than its own length and take off (to a climb rate of 1000fpm) in an amazingly short distance. You could fly one from a reasonably-sized back garden!
With a level flight speed range of 20mph to 100mph, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the sights from its open cockpit, or travel serious distances to locations that are inaccessible even to the most capable STOL fixed wing aircraft (yes, even the incredible C42!).
Strong wind is absolutely no problem for the MT-03 - it's stable in winds in excess of 45mph - when most GA aircraft (and any microlight) would be grounded. And all this, while burning just 12 litres of unleaded petrol per hour.
If autogyros are such incredible machines, why aren't they seen more widely? Well, they've always had a fairly strong following and they've been used for a number of commercial purposes, too - but until recently, it's fair to say that they've had a fairly poor (but largely undeserved) safety reputation.
Until fairly recently, most autogyros were single-seat, so training was 100% solo - and the traditional, homebuilt gyroplanes could be quite intolerant of pilot mishandling. In modern, factory built and UK-certified autogyros, these issues are a thing of the past and gyroplane flying is now just as safe as traditional fixed-wing aviation (and in some senses, it's safer because autogyros can't stall and can land with zero forward speed).
The MT-03 is a two-seater with full dual controls. Through modern design and extensive testing, the MT-03 has had the "bad habits" designed out of it so it's a very stable and much more forgiving aircraft than traditional autogyros. It's very easy to fly and with sufficient training, it's well within the capabilities of an average pilot.
We'll be offering training and shares in this fantastic rotorcraft very soon - it's already here and available for viewing and trial flights: Contact us on 0845 130 9676 7 days a week for more information.
