Share or hire?

Most people would just love to own their own aeroplane wouldn't they?

Well that's just fine if you've got the money to buy it, you've got somewhere to park it, time to clean it, time to maintain it, time to repair it, time to fix it when it goes wrong, and time to complete the incessant paperwork. There is more, but enough said.

But most people who live and love to fly aeroplanes lead busy lives and have other commitments - home, family and work. Leisure usually comes last on the list and even this has to be spread out over the whole family and very often with a limited budget.

So, the whole thing boils down to time and money. Now usually - unless you're financially independent - if you've got the money you haven't got the time. But if you've got the time you may well not have the money and in the case of most people there's usually a lack of both.

HIRE WITHOUT THE EXTRA COST

OK, OK, I can hear some of you thinking "Oh yes, but what about the initial CAPITAL expenditure?"  Well, you're absolutely right of course. This is a considerable expense that you wouldn't have to incurr if we offered a hiring service. But there are two ways that we justify this requirement.

Firstly, supposing you were to BORROW the money from a finance company. Just do the figures and see how much you're still saving in the long run by going down the shares route.

Secondly, this is a fantastic way for us to be in a position to offer you lots of modern state-of-the-art aircraft to fly. If we did hiring like most outfits do we wouldn't have the capital to invest in such fabulous aircraft and we'd be scratching around with the chickens instead of soaring with the eagles - and so would you. So you see, this is a 'you win, we win' situation.

Now we also understand that aspiring pilots come with different levels of financial income and for some, the notion of parting with a sizeable chunk of cash after a few hours of flying would be a problem. Let us just say at this juncture that we'll bend over backwards to help here in any way we can. In this way over the years we've helped several low-income people to achieve their dreams of obtaining a Private Pilot's Licence. Just come and discuss the issue with us if that's you're situation.

There's also the issue of those who just want to get the licence and then go away and do their own thing - usually to buy their own aircraft. We reckon it takes about six months to get through the course in the UK because of the weather so we offer a 'Six-month share' which is considerably cheaper but with the proviso that there's no refund at the end. We even do shorter periods for those who can get through in a shorter period. It's all to do with the win/win philosophy.

Keep you supplied with lots of well maintained and clean modern aircraft. Because we have full-time mechanics we are able to quickly fix all the inevitable niggly problems that beset all aeroplanes.

Never suffer because an aircraft is grounded through a fault that needs rectifying and you'll never be in a situation where you can't get an aircraft because they're all booked up. And best of all, you always get to fly the aircraft at cost price. That's running-costs-only with no profit whatsoever to the Airbourne Aviation Ltd the operating company.
